Thetford Folk Club returns on Friday 28th June at the Carnegie Room
Live music from:
- Winter Wilson – hit 2018 at full speed with the stunning new album “Far Off on the Horizon”, and a tour with folk rock legends Fairport Convention. Their 2019 schedule maintains the momentum, including tours of Australia, Canada and Europe, plus the release of “Live & Unconventional”, an album recorded live on the tour and featuring Fairport.Kip Winter and Dave Wilson bring a sense of intimacy to every venue, blending superb, often hard-hitting original songs, stunning harmonies and musicianship with sometimes hilarious tales of life on the road. Kip (vocals, accordion, guitar, flute) “simply has a voice to die for” (John Roffey, Maverick Magazine), whilst Dave (vocals, guitar and banjo) is now rightly recognized as being amongst the top tier of British songwriters, with his songs covered by some of folk’s “greats”.Singing out for the underdog in glorious harmony and a hatful of laughs for good measure.
- Baroness and The Bear – husband and wife duo – Julie and Bob; laid back, fun loving musicians who live in West Norfolk. They play arrangements of songs that shaped their lives and write their own songs influenced by the music that they grew up with, such as Bob Dylan, Madeline Peyroux, Sister Rosetta Tharpe, Miles Davis, Fairport Convention, Richard Thompson, Joan Baez and a thousand more….
- Ron Wood – Ron is one of the organisers and regular host of Thetford Folk Club. He is the singer and accordion player with popular folk band ‘Magpye’ and will be performing a rare solo set of specially selected traditional and contemporary folk songs.
Doors open 7:30pm – Tickets £5 from Leaping Hare
