Each individual will be fully assessed by our professional tutors and advised which qualification would best suit his/her needs. Some students may find attending a functional skills class beneficial prior to starting GCSE. If English is not your first language, we will ask you to do an ESOL assessment prior to attending a GCSE English class as an ESOL class may be more suited to some learners prior to attending the class.
There are no formal requirements, but the results of initial assessments will be taken into account when deciding on the qualification and level for which the candidate will be entered.
iGCSE English (Cambridge International)
This course is suitable for those individuals who require a recognised qualification for career progression or to qualify for other college/university courses. The course will also be of value to those wishing to improve their skills for a variety of purposes such as work, home and supporting children with homework.

There is also a Speaking and Listening component which is assessed by a short oral presentation and interview. Candidates should expect weekly written homework throughout the year. It is essential that you complete this homework as this will determine the exam entry level at the end of the course.

The only essential equipment for the course is a pad of paper, a ring binder to hold notes, a pen and a small pocket dictionary.
